Spring 2019 ENTU Capstone
For my Environmental Studies capstone, I participated in the Projects in Environmental Education course with Los Arboles Middle School (LAMS). For my capstone project, I worked on creating a large scale vermicompost to provide an engaging space where students and faculty can learn compost.
The capstone involved the building of community and increasing environmental literacy within the LAMS community. I was interested in learning how to work with middle schoolers and learn how to properly take care of a vermicompost bin. I have worked with students before but it was my first time actually guiding them to create something from scratch. It was interesting working with students on something that was completely new to me. As I was learning about this project, the LAMS students were also learning too. We were all able to learn from each other.
